Intellectual Property

PROMAXX drug delivery technology was originally invented by Epic Therapeutics, Inc., and is currently protected by numerous issued patents, both in the United States and in foreign jurisdictions. Several core product and process patents protect various aspects of Epic's technology such as: (a) Epic's exclusive water-based process technology for making microparticles; and (b) Epic's various microparticles including, but not limited to, Epic's hallmark protein microspheres. Epic's patents are also directed to, among other things, novel methods for delivering therapeutic agents. Epic continues to evolve its technology and its patent portfolio with new filings. Baxter is committed to expanding its intellectual property portfolio by filing on improvements and new applications of Epic's technology. Certain of Epic's unique formulation technology is protected by proprietary know-how.
