Improve API Yield and Profitability:
Line 8 Introduces New Vial Filling Capabilities for Biologics
A new vial line is available at Baxter’s Bloomington facility. Line 8's custom design has the potential to improve yield and reduce the risk of contamination, as well as provide the distinctive technologies needed to produce many of the new biologics and special small molecule formulations.
Improved Yield
Line 8 is the first Bloomington vial line to provide fill volume checks on 100 percent of the vials, which may help yield improvements by eliminating destructive testing methods or by reducing the cost of a failure when random testing is used.
Reduced Risk of Contamination
Line 8 applies the latest technology to increase control over the manufacturing process:
- For lyophilized vials, Line 8 features automated robotic loading and unloading of all lyophilization chambers, eliminating human intervention in the aseptic area
- For all vials, Line 8 uses a unique automated online vision system to measure stopper seating prior to crimping and detect improperly seated stoppers
Unique Capabilities for Sensitive Molecules
Line 8 is one of the premier contract manufacturing lines to incorporate technology that can provide complete cold-chain management. Line 8 maintains the molecule’s ideal temperature from tank to filling head and features technology designed to maintain temperature during loading/unloading of lyophilization accumulation tables.
